Marketing and Events Coordinator


Plan, produce and oversee execution of all marketing and events of the Champaign Center Partnership (CCP), the nonprofit membership-based business organization that fosters a vibrant, inviting and active core in Champaign’s Downtown, Midtown and Campustown districts by strengthening business and building community. Reporting to the Executive Director, this full-time position is the team lead who oversees coordination of large-scale community events, member events and promotions. The Marketing and Events Coordinator develops materials to deliver the organization’s messages to the public and the media, and markets both CCP districts and member businesses. This position is a key member of a small and strategic team that leads business development in Champaign’s central business district.

Responsibilities :

Event Coordination
  • Plan, coordinate, manage and attend all major special events, member events, fundraisers and promotions including the Parade of Lights, Chow Down in Campustown, 13 Thursdays, Wine Walk, Morning Meetups, Member Socials, and Annual Meeting
  • Book event venues, confirm details, oversee and manage workplans, assign and follow up on tasks, ensuring that internal deadlines are met
  • Attend and facilitate meetings of event-specific committees, engaging CCP members in planning and participation
  • Coordinate event staffing including volunteer recruitment, orientation and training
Marketing & Communications
  • Develop, update and execute event marketing plans and calendars
  • Develop and post content regularly on CCP social media accounts including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn
  • Write and disseminate event press releases to media contacts
  • Write and develop content for all CCP e-newsletters (Discover Champaign Center, Inside Champaign Center, campaign-specific e-blasts)
  • Design event and general awareness marketing materials including posters, flyers, digital graphics and banners in adherence to CCP style guide and branding manual
  • Develop and regularly maintain content on including upcoming events, merchant features, blog posts, and business listings
  • Execute general awareness marketing campaign to include radio, digital ads, bus boards, and/or billboards
Administrative & Member Support
  • Conduct post-event analysis and generate timely written progress reports to the board of directors and executive director, tracking progress towards annual goals
  • Recruit and supervise interns to assist with communications, photography and events
  • Update member records in Zoho CRM and assist with periodic member mailings
  • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director


  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or public relations preferred
  • 1-2 years experience in an external-facing role (communications, community outreach, etc.)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including writing, proofreading and copy editing
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships including media contacts, members and vendors
  • Ability to develop timelines and meet deadlines
  • Outstanding organizational skills including meeting coordination and event planning
  • Accountability and autonomy in decision-making
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the Executive Director, the board of directors, volunteers and interns
  • Creative and energetic
  • Able to work well under pressure and represent the organization and its mission well
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, WordPress, social media platforms and database systems (Zoho CRM)
  • Proficient graphic design skills in Adobe Suite


This is a salaried, full-time position of $36,000-$38,000 a year with 9 paid holidays and accrued Paid Time Off. Regular office hours: Mon-Fri, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. This position requires some hours to be worked periodically in the evenings and on weekends: flex-time allowed to off-set these hours.
