It’s spooky-ooky season and there’s no better place to get your fright on than in Champaign Center. Keep reading to learn more about all the terrifying activities for goblins and ghouls happening now until the the end of October.

1. Hear scary stories with Dan Wild at the Literary!

Local author Dan Wild will be reading excerpts from his new book, “Stories for Imaginary Friends: 50 Fantasy, Horror, Sci-Fi Stories, and Essays” at the Literary Book Bar on Friday, October 22 at 7 PM. Plus grab a copy of his book for yourself.

The Literary is a member of the CCP and located at 122 N Neil St. in downtown Champaign.

2. Decorate scary cookies at home with Central Illinois Bakehouse!

The Central Illinois Bakehouse has a great cookie decorating kit for kids and families to purchase! The kits include icing pipes, cookies, and sprinkles. You can order your kit in advance and pick it up at the bakehouse later on. Click here to order your cookie decorating kit!

3. Only monsters at the farmers market!

The Champaign-Urbana Farmers Market’s last market of the season will be overtaken with monsters during this annual, family-friendly market day. You can swing by the Champaign Center Partnership’s booth to snag some monster-approved candy. Creep on over the market on Tuesday, October 26, 3 – 6 PM.

The Land Connection is a member of the CCP and the farmers market is located at the Neil-Washington parking lot in downtown Champaign.

4. Win the costume contest at the Axe Bar!

X-Krush will be performing live at The Axe Bar on Friday, October 29 starting at 8 PM plus 3 costume contests – Sexiest, Scariest, and Best Costumes! Cash and other prizes for winners. This is 21+ event, $10 cover for the concert.

5. More costumes plus spooky trivia at The Blind Pig!

Blind Pig Brewery is having a Halloween party on Saturday, October 30 and — wait for it — it’s a pooch costume party! That’s right: bring your dog in a costume for treats. Plus, you can also compete in some spooky trivia on Sunday, October 31 at Blind Pig Brewery.

6. Halloween at Bentley's Pub is back from the dead!

The Bentley’s Halloween party is is back from the dead with DJ “Necrotic” Nico Hualde spinning spooky party tunes on wax on Saturday, October 30 from 10 PM til the witching hour. This is 21+ event, no cover, costumes encouraged!
